Big Bluestem (Andropogon gerardii) 'Red October' is a gorgeous cultivar of the native Big Bluestem grass. Originally selected for it's upright habit and narrow leaves, it's standout fall red color is what it's really known for! In the spring, foliage will start out green with red highlights. These red highlights will increse until the entire plant is red in early fall, even the seedheads. Use 'Red October' to make an incredible speciman plant in garden beds and borders, low hedges or privacy screens, or modern meadowscape/new perennial style plantings.
