Sulphur Buckwheat (Eriogonum umbellatum) 'Kannah Creek' is an oustanding naturally occuring cultivar discovered growing in western Colorado. 'Kannah Creek' provides outstanding all-season interest, starting off the season with handsome gray-green foliage that forms a low-growing mat until summer when showy bunches of cream and/or yellow flowers appear and completely cover the plant from June-August. Flowers will fade to shades of orange and rust at the end of summer and in fall the foliage will begin turning burgundy, forming an amazing groundcover until covered by winter snow. Plant 'Kannah Creek' in garden beds and borders, along walking paths as a groundcover, in rock gardens, or along banks or slopes for stabilization. This plant is very drought tolerant and grows well in xeric/dry soils, but will require some watering if summers are dry to keep looking its best. Sulphur Buckwheat is highy tolerant of urban pollution and city sites.
