Limber Pine (Pinus flexilis) 'NiceIam' is a robust dwarf conifer that is a strong grower and will bear miniature pine cones, even as a young plant. The rich blue-green needles and globe shape make this petite pine a beautiful addition to all kinds of garden spaces! Add 'NiceIam' to garden beds and borders, rock gardens, or sunny Japanese style plantings.  For best results, plant in sandy or loam soil with good drainage and be careful not to overwater.

  • Irrigation Requirement: Low (1/2" every 10-14 days) after the plant has established. Water on a moderate schedule the first year or two. 

    Mature Size: Extremely slow growing, will be approximately 3' tall and 2-3' wide after 10 years.  

    Hardiness Zone: 4 - 7

    Light Requirement: Full Sun

    Deer Resistant: Somewhat

    Salt Tolerant: Somewhat, Limber Pine is more salt tolerant than other pine species, but still not considered very salt tolerant. 

    Soils: Will do best in well-drained sandy or loam soils, but it can tolerate clay if amended to improve drainage. 

  • Plants in the Pinus genus are known host plants for 150 pollinators in northern Utah. 'NiceIam' can also provide good habitat for some birds and small animals as it matures.
