Slender Cinquefoil (Potentilla gracilis), also known by the common name Graceful Cinquefoil, is a staple in meadows, grasslands, and riparian habitats all across Utah. Featuring a sweet five-petaled flower on top of a delicate stem, this plant's pale white to yellow flowers are a favorite among smaller native bees for pollination, as well as being the host plant for multiple species. The attractive, sharply-divided leaves turn shades of pink, orange, and yellow in the fall, providing wonderful long-season interest. In addition to this plant's ability to moderately tolerate short periods of drought, it can also withstand short periods of flooding, making it a beautiful and important additions to flower gardens and borders, natural meadow and prairie style gardens, cottage gardens, rain gardens, and even drainage areas.
